I provide individual therapy (AKA 1:1 counseling) to help you better understand the concerns you are having and work toward effective solutions. I follow an integrative cognitive-behavioral approach, which means that I conceptualize problems through a cognitive lens (i.e. understanding the bidirectional influences of thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physiology), but use interventions from various schools of thoughts (e.g. insight-oriented, motivational interviewing, solution-focused, etc.) to tailor therapy to your individual needs. Therapy typically occurs once a week to twice monthly and is provided within a compassionate, nonjudgmental and supportive environment.
Professional support is advisable when you are:
- Dealing with lingering problems that do not appear to have a foreseeable solution
- Experiencing emotional or behavioral changes that are hurting you, your relationships, or your work
- Grieving an important loss in your life or change in your health
- You are engaging in unhealthy behaviors and desire support in changing your behavior
I provide short-term therapy that typically lasts from 8-10 sessions and is most appropriate for situational problems. If your problems are more deep seated or entrenched, involve chronic trauma and abuse, addiction, or a serious and persistent psychiatric condition such as schizophrenia, bipolar or personality disorder, long-term therapy is recommended. I can provide you with a referral.
